What the Variations Tab Shows
The Variations tab appears below the Campaign Chart and shows a row per creative for each campaign. For each ad, you can see: Impressions, Clicks, CTR, Conversions, and Status. Use this to identify which creative is driving results and which is underperforming.
Preview and Edit from Reporting
You can preview any creative directly from the Variations tab by clicking its preview icon — this shows you exactly how the ad looks without leaving reporting. To make changes, click the edit icon on the same row to open that specific creative in the campaign editor.
Acting on the Data
Once you identify a top performer, consider pausing the lower-performing creatives to concentrate spend on what is working. You can do this from the campaign editor or by using bulk actions in the Campaign Chart.
Common Mistakes
- 1Pausing underperforming creative too early — a creative with very few impressions cannot meaningfully be called underperforming. Low impression counts produce noisy CTR and conversion numbers that may reverse entirely as volume builds. Before pausing a creative based on performance, check its impression count. If the number is still small relative to your other creatives, allow more time before drawing conclusions.
- 2Comparing creatives that received very unequal impression splits — if one creative has received ten times the impressions of another, a direct CTR comparison will be skewed. The lower-impression creative has had less opportunity to optimize and may appear weaker than it actually is.
