In today’s volatile and ever-changing digital landscape, businesses are often faced with the challenge of finding advertising platforms that allow them to freely promote their products. At Topple, we are committed to breaking down these barriers and empowering brands to advertise anything that is legal, without fear of arbitrary marketplace censorship.

Our recent collaboration with a large e-commerce retailer specialising in firearms, optics, ammunition, and accessories perfectly illustrates Topple’s potential for brands to tap into this difficult to reach audience of highly engaged outdoorsmen and women.

Campaign Overview:

Our client, a leading retailer in the firearms industry, turned to Topple to drive their Memorial Day Sale from May 22 to May 26, 2024.

The goal was clear: increase website traffic and boost sales through an engaging video advertising campaign. Leveraging Topple’s unique digital advertising platform, they were able to programmatically reach their audience across premium websites in the United States, enjoying the freedom to advertise their products without the typical restrictions imposed by other platforms.

Why Topple?

Topple stands alone as the first free-market digital advertising platform, providing a haven for brands that face limitations on mainstream ad networks. Our platform offers brands the ability to reach their target audience through premium display and video ad zones across high-quality publications, much like Google Ads, but without the censorship.

This commitment to free speech is especially crucial for industries like firearms and fieldsports, which often struggle with advertising restrictions.

Key Metrics from the Memorial Day Campaign:

  • Video Impressions: 1.2 million+
  • Clicks to Website: 9,457
  • Total Sales: 537
  • Revenue Generated: $114,102.60
  • Ad Spend: $9,411.51
  • Profit: $104,691.09
  • Return on Ad Spend (ROAS): 12:1

Unpacking the Results:

The campaign’s success is a testament to Topple’s ability to connect historically “restricted”–but legal–brands with their audience using modern advertising technology. This video ad received over 1.2 million impressions and drove nearly 9,500 clicks to the retailer’s website.

In the 26 days that followed, the people who clicked on this video ad completed 537 sales worth $114,102.60—an impressive feat made possible by the relatively small investment of $9,411.51 in advertising through Topple.

Beyond Immediate Sales:

The insights gained from the campaign go beyond immediate sales. Thousands of users demonstrated interest by adding items to their carts but did not complete the purchase, and thousands more visited the site without showing an immediate purchase intent. If harnessed correctly, these interactions represent a goldmine of potential future customers.

Looking Ahead: Strategic Retargeting with Topple.

Using the detailed data from this campaign, the retailer is now positioned to launch targeted retargeting efforts:

1. Nurturing Site Visitors: Display and video advertising campaigns can retarget site visitors who did not complete a purchase so that we continue to inform and inspire the people who have already viewed our client’s video ad, clicked through to their site, but left without adding an item to their cart or completing a purchase. This strategy is designed to convert interest into future sales.

2. Abandoned Cart Retargeting: Display ads will be used to target users who added an item to their cart but who have not yet completed a purchase. These ads can include incentives like free-shipping or a free t-shirt, nudging them towards finalising their transactions.

The Topple Advantage:

This highly successful Memorial Day campaign showcases how Topple can drive significant business results while maintaining a commitment to free speech in advertising. Our platform’s ability to deliver a 12:1 return on ad spend for our client is a clear indicator of its effectiveness and the value it offers to industries that are often marginalized–or outright banned–by legacy digital advertising platforms.

At Topple, we believe that every law-abiding brand deserves the opportunity to compete on a level playing field by leveraging programmatic advertising technology to reach, engage, retarget and convert their target audience. This case study is just one example of how we are transforming the digital advertising landscape, one campaign at a time.

Hi, I'm Brian! After spending a decade building out the digital advertising practices at some of the world's biggest agencies I realized millions of people were becoming difficult to reach due to digital censorship. We call these people the unreachables. I created Topple to monetize de-platformed websites while helping brands #reachtheunreachable.
